Der 1997 erstmals vorgestellte Bentley Continental T war eine Version mit 10 cm kürzerem Radstand im Vergleich zum Continental R. Im Gegenzug für etwas weniger Beinfreiheit für die Fondpassagiere, bot der Continental T mehr Leistung, 91kg weniger Gewicht und ein reaktionsfreudigeres Handling, was ihn zur sportlichsten Version der Modellfamilie machte.
In Verbindung mit der aggressiven Karosserie der Firma Mulliner wurde der Continental T 1999 zu einem echten Supersportwagen seiner Zeit und war das letzte und leistungsstärkste Modell des legendären Unternehmens, bevor es von Volkswagen aufgekauft wurde.
Die Mulliner-Spezifikation umfasste eine erhöhte Leistung, verbreiterte Spur und Kotflügel sowie ein von Mulliner abgestimmtes Fahrwerk für ein verbessertes Handling sowie gelochte Brems- und Gaspedale aus Aluminium.
Die Instrumententafel war in Anlehnung an die im Rennsport eingesetzten Vorkriegs-Bentley mit gedrehtem Aluminium anstelle von Holz verkleidet, ebenso die Zierleisten der Türoberkanten. Auch der rote Anlasserknopf in der Instrumententafel weckt Assoziationen zum Rennsport.
Die 426 PS des 6,75l V8-Turbomotors und das atemberaubende Drehmoment von 875 Nm machten ihn nicht nur zum schnellsten Serien-Bentley aller Zeiten, sondern auch zum drehmomentstärksten Fahrzeug auf dem damaligen Markt.
Der Continental T Mulliner beschleunigt in nur 5,8 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h und erreicht dabei eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 270 km/h - und das alles schon Anfang der 2000er.
